Help to Recover saved passwords and bookmarks
Due to an unexpected failure of both my backup server (hdd failure) and desktop (windows being dumb), I no longer have access to any info except for my firefox username and password, so I cannot activate firefox sync and get any bookmarks or saved passwords over the last 8 years, 80% of which I probably won't ever remember. Is there any way to recover these?
For further details, 4 days ago, the HDD in my backup server went out, loosing firefox and all sync data on that computer, last night a windows update failed, and corrupted my registry, had to format and re-install windows. Lost everything. So, am I boned?

"I no longer have access to any info except for my firefox username and password, so I cannot activate firefox sync"
Wait, so the username and password that you have are not the ones for Sync?
Try this then:
If you cannot recover your Sync info and you formatted your primary hdd and the backup one is dead, then no, you won't be able to recover your passwords and bookmarks.
In the future:
- I recommend using LastPass for storing your passwords: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lastpass-password-manager/
- I recommend creating a Linux Live CD. You can use it to move important files to another drive before formatting the drive. Linux Mint: http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php
- You can also use Xmarks Sync to backup your bookmarks: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/
Did you backup the Sync key or otherwise still have a backup of personal data?
Did only that computer had Sync setup?
Without the Sync key it is impossible to access data on the Sync server as the Sync key is used locally to encrypt the data before uploading and generating a new Sync key will wipe all data on the Sync server.
Did you have to reformat the computer or create a new windows account?
