I'm wondering why no matter the computer or version of firefox, as ive been using it since version im not positive but i believe that it was 5, that they have yet to fix the issue of this browser concuming the full 100% of CPU power anytime om on the browser for longer than 20 minutes at a time, now let me explain my issue with this ive used the browser on at least four different PC's ranging from low end to medium range as im not stacked with cash and dont own a high-end pc, and its been the same on all of them also on all of these pcs ive tried different versiond of firefox in an attempt to fix this to no avail, and ive tried multiple fixes for this that were suggested by the support site including the javascript fix, the noscript fix, the adblock fix, and the cache disk size fix, etc... all to no avail and its never the plugin container causing the issue when watched under the system resource monitor its the firefox.exe itsself. Now as an avid fan of firefox since before it blew up into what it is now and a continued fan since im wondering when they are finally going to address this issue because as you can see from my issue with it and do a quick google search and you'll see everyone elses also, these so called fixes arent fixes or the issue would have been stopped before version 4, so im wondering if the support team will ever get around to fixing our favorite browser or if were going to have to continue to suffer through this headache and hit the browser restart button every 20 minutes or so?

thanks any real reply would be appreciated and no i dont want to hear a quick temporary fix im tired of them and would like a real reply or a reply from someone who has analyzed the code and fixed this because thats what it is a coding issue not a plugin or java or flash issue thanks again

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

@tylerdowner i really cant see how you thought adding more items for it to deal with would help no offense but as you can guess by this reply it does not in fact help i welcome more suggestions thoughand the next time i actually let it crash on me ill be sure to save the id for the next post but i generally try not to let it do that as it has telltale sign that its soon going to it goes like this: 1 surfing with one to three tabs open and after a while it will start to slow down a little almost like i just opened a new window 2 continue surfing and it continues its lagging slowly but steadily growing in the amount of time it lags 3 continue surfing and then it sill stop responding and freeze up and then catch back up slowly but steadily increasing in the amount of time it takes to unfreeze ( at this point i usually kill the process and restart the program) 4 if surfing is continued then its freeze times will eventually get to the point where it will freeze for up to 3 or more minutes at a time and during this time of freezing at any moment whether it has unfrozen or not it is liable to all of the sudden crash (un)expectedly because generally it happens about 5 seconds after unfreezing and @ cor-el (any relation to the members of the house of El if i might ask my other handle is Zod) i have been using avast for a while ive used norton and macafee but as everyone knows they are about some of the worst for people that really use their pc's ive used avg but cant stand it and before i crashed and reinstalled everything about 4 yrs ago i was using some off the wall one i cant even remember as if thats a good thing lol any other recommendations for software i hear kaspersky's good but i fear its the same as norton or macafee, and i use the windows native firewall and my restrictions are about as low as they can go honestly without letting everyone in the world onto my pc, more solutions welcome
