How do I remove the binocular shaped icon and bar below the URL line?
On the 5th line down from the top of the firefox browser is a horizontal bar with what appears to be a binocular shaped icon that I would like removed. It serves no function when clicked on with either right or left click and just takes up needed monitor space.

What is the name of that toolbar?
Do you see it in View > Toolbars?
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems
There is nothing new to add to my original question. There is no name associated with this bar/horizontal space that is medium gray in color and has ONLY a binocular shaped image directly in the center of the bar. The cursor changes to a hand when moved over any part of the bar, but no subsequent action can be applied by clicking on the image or the bar. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS IMAGE AND BAR, THEN I NEED THE ASSISTANCE OF SOMEONE WHO IS. Safe mode and ALL options did not remove this bar or image. Neither did default settings. BREAKING NEWS!!!! It is Zone Alarm Spy Blocker that was responsible for the placement of the "binocular bar". I experimented with unchecking this option in View, Toolbars and the line disappeared. I am surprised no one seemed to know about this option in View, Toolbar. Experiment for yourself and you also will find this option.

cor-el asked you about View > Toolbars.
Hard to "experiment" with something that isn't installed, and most experienced Firefox users steer clear of ZoneAlarm due to problems like that.
The ZoneAlarm toolbar has to be removed in Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. This may help: http://www.ehow.com/how_5132945_remove-zone-alarm-spy-blocker.html
