• Usernames and passwords are not saved

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?

There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.

I am saying that UN & PW that have been saved in the Password Manager and appear there are the ones in question. Some work as expected. Some work after I start to fill in the UN & PW section on the web page. By this I mean the selection boxes for UN &PW appear and as I type the first letter a drop down box with the correct Name appears below. If I drop to the box and double click on it I am logged into the site. It is this series unnecessary of extra steps that is the problem.

Other sites that do not have a UN & PW saved will not present the "Do You Want To Save This PW" drop down box when I first visit the site and thus they don't get saved.

This problem appeared after I rebuilt my hard drive and is a real pain.

I have cleared all UN & PW and started over. The interesting thing is the problems appear in the same order on the same sites. A site that worked before I cleared the Password Manager will work after the reload. A site that do not ask if I wanted to save the UN & PW will not ask and a site that had the UN & PW saved in the Password Manager will ask and will save it but it will not work when the site is opened

None of the preloaded answers address this issue. They speak to how the system should works not how to correct a problem

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I know how to open in Safe Mode but beyond that you have lost me. What is and where are these extension?

Does it work better if you start Firefox in Save mode?

• Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

• Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
• Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

I started in save mode and in safe mode with networking.

No internet in safe mode

Those sites that work in normal mode worked in safe mode with networking. When I tried a site that would not ask for a UN & PW before I had NO KEYBOARD so I could not access them to try.

As far as extensions I have no idea as to where they night be and which ones I might attempt to reload.

This is about Firefox Safe mode by holding down the Shift key while starting Firefox and not Windows Safe mode by pressing F8 on the boot screen.

Additional info

In safe mode I am able to open the site and log in but once I open the post I have NO KEYBOARD. If I open my out look express or attempt to type a web site in the address bar I have no keyboard.

I am beginning to think FF is completely corrupted and may have to be reloaded. My question then is how do I save my bookmarks?

Another problem I can no long use "ask me each time" when cookies want to be set. In this mode I will get 20 to 30 cookie requests every time I open a site even if I have opened that site before.
