Defult message when sending e-mail: Messsage cannot be sent, try again? Yes or no? Either what I choose the e-mail is sent but not saved to any folder = gone! Makes it not secure to send e-mail if you feel that you need to save communication for documentation.

Are you talking about a pop or imap mail account?
If imap: Have you subscribed to see the 'Sent' or 'Sent Items' or whatever the server calls that folder? Can you see it in the imap mail account list of folders?
Have you specified that server folder in Account Settings? Right click on imap mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' select 'Place a copy in' select: 'Other' and choose the Sent folder on the imap mail account. click on OK
Thanks Toad-Hall. It seems like the setup is like you explain. It did work previously but all of a sudden this problem occoured. So far not solved and it is really frustrating not having any copies of sent mails. So, I need other solutions for this problem.
