Hi,

so i have been wondering for months now: why does the first firefox window per session never stop trying to load? I usually have to give up on waiting for the first window, and open a second window, then close the first.

Thanks!

What are you using as your homepage?

homepage is my gmail inbox. However, my FF settings are to open in a BLANK page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Try to start Firefox with the about:blank page by creating a copy of the current Firefox desktop shortcut. Add a space and -url "about:blank" to the target field in the Properties.

Hi, thanks!

The complication of this is that Firefox does not manifest the problem every single time-- in fact, for the current session, it started fine.

So anyway, what's the difference between this and the "restart with add-ons disabled"menu option? (Or, if they are the same, why doesn't the menu show the shortcut there?)

If so, it is helpful to hear that it could be add-on related. :)

Hi,thanks for your reply :)

i am not clear on your meaning though-- how do i know what the "current Firefox desktop shortcut" is? (i cannot find any "start Firefox with the about:blank page" in the menu options, let alone a shortcut for it.)

Are you saying i should find out somehow what the shortcut is, then type it into the address bar, press enter, and then type a space followed by typing:

-url "about:blank"

to the target field in the page's Properties? Also i cannot find any "properties" from the FF menu. Is this "properties" perhaps the same you mean by whenyou right-click a webpage and choose "view page info?"

Hi all  :)

one more idea i just had-- is it possible that my problem could be a result of a poor internet connection? (It kind of seems like it might happen when the signal is weak/slow..)

hi again cor-el,

so i just played around with this for the past hour, trying different options, and i think i finally figured out what you meant! (The "current" threw me, for one thing, as i had taken it to mean the current ff page that we are now on,

or perhaps the current URL of the blank FF page...)

So now i'm guessing you meant for me to go to my PC's desktop and copy the FF icon, then right-click that and choose properties! So i tried it, and it did lead to a new blank FF page.

So if i am doing it correctly, is this supposed to solve the problem? And if so, how? By being more specific, the command some how bypasses some kind of potential interference?or...?
