I uninstalled Firefox due to the Flash 11.3 event. Now, it would not re-install in my Laptop. What can I do?

My laptop runs on Windows 8 64bit. I decided to uninstall Firefox and re-install it again before I found out about all the Flash 11.3 issue. After I completed the uninstallation I downloaded the "Firefox setup 18.0.2" and after extracting the files IT WOULD NOT INSTALL. Just out of curiosity I tried to install Chrome (which was not previously installed) and it happened exactly the same. At this moment I am forced to use IE10, because the Flash update is embedded and it works ok.

What should I do in order to reinstall Firefox?

Thank you cor-el! I actually chose to use a restoration point and everything was solved! It's amazing what a big mess was caused due to this Flash player malware...

Hello, click Here To Re-download Firefox and to do that you must click 'Firefox Free Download' Below 'Need a Fresh Copy?' And it should look a bit like this: https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2013-02-09-01-05-28-44c868.png

Thank you Jack. I already did that SEVERAL times. As I explained in my initial post, the problem I am facing is that AFTER the download and the files extraction complete the setup file WOULD NOT install Firefox.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files and installing Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading and installing work.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
