Will an export of addresses include the lists (i.e., group addresses)?

I need to move the addresses from my desktop to my laptop. I have a LOT of grouped addresses (TB calls them "lists"). Will they also be exported? The were not in every email program from Microsoft, so I'm guessing not.

Never mind. I didn't get any response to this, so tried an export/import, and sure enough, the lists are not exported.

So what format of import/export did you use? For transfer from one Thunderbird to another I would expect LDIF to work, and I'd expect it to work if you imported the relevant .mab files.

CSV cannot preserve Mailing Lists, and neither can vCard/vcf. Nor can you preserve distribution lists/groups/mailing lists when moving between different email clients.

The MoreFunctionsForAddressBook addon may be useful. It has specific tools for working with Mailing Lists too.

I used my old standby .csv file. I have never heard of "LDIF", so don't know what it does and didn't use it. Also have no idea what ".mab" files are. However, I simply reconstructed the lists on the laptop, and to its credit, TB makes it easy to build lists when you have everyone in your book you want to include.
