Why is it, that when I start firefox, it opens my homepage as normal (about:blank), but then a second tab opens up directed to the following webpage... https://payment2.works.com/wpm/bookmark
When I double-click on an offline html file, firefox runs up, and says there's a problem opening the offline file (which firefox has always done for some odd reason), but it also opened a news tab pointing to the following address... https://payment2.works.com/wpm/bookmark
Is this a virus, spyware, or is it a problem with firefox? Could it be a downloaded program file?(As far as I know the only downloaded program files I have are the usual adobe acrobat, quicktime, java, and flash player.) How do I know if these have not been corrupted?
The virus scanner did find a trojan virus today, but cleaned it. When I re-tried firefox, the dodgy link opened again.
I would appreciate any help you could give me,
Regards,
Rob.

v3.6.13 is an insecure version of Firefox which exposes your system to security vulnerabilities. I'd recommend you update to v3.6.19 by clicking Help | Check For Updates.
As regards your problem, do the following please.
- Click Tools | Options | General.
- Make sure it says "Show My Home Page" in the first dropdown menu.
- In the second one underneath that, check to see whether there's anything alse listed in the same field. If there is, delete it so that only "about:blank" remains.
In addition, please visit the Plugins Check page and update where necessary. Outdated plugins are also a security risk.
Similarly, delete all your Java Consoles prior to v1.6.0_26 via Tools | Add-ons | Extensions

Xircal,
Thanks for the help.
I upgraded Firefox, (and also Java and Flash plugins just in case), and the problem seems to have gone. The newer version of Firefox also opens offline .htm files too.
Thanks again.
