This is the error I get whenever I try to (for example) send an ecard from 123Greetings.com via the FACEBOOK button. Now, I have also noticed that lately I can't sign into websites through Facebook (like when a website gives you a choice to either sign in, or click the Facebook button to sign in through Facebook...) nothing happens. It just doesn't work. The only thing I have done recently is cleared my cache and cookies. I found this same question ARCHIVED on this site and I followed the instructions given to that person, which was going in to about:config and verifying that Javascript is enabled (It is) and that "network.protocol-handler.external.javascript" is False (and it is). So I don't know what to do beyond this. Please help me!

It just occurred to me that I DID add on "Disconnect" and that's when I started having the problems! So I immediately went in and disabled it and it fixed it!!!! Thank you so very much for your quick response! I am so happy that this particular problem is fixed!!!! YAHOOO!!

In case you haven't already tried it, to rule out one of your extensions as the culprit, can you reproduce the problem in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

Actually, upon reading your second symptom about not being able to sign on with Facebook, maybe it's "Disconnect"? You can configure/disable individual extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.
