Favicons not updating in bookmarks
I have noticed that the favicons on a website are not being created when I bookmark a new site or when I use a previous bookmark, they are not updating.
They are showing as a world globe when first created.
They used to always work so I can only assume that one of the Firefox updates has stopped this working so can someone provide any information to help get this fixed?
Thanks.

I'm not getting a favicon if I bookmark that link, so this is one of the cases where Firefox doesn't support the way the website specifies the favicon.
You can try this extension for cases where you do not get the favicon for a bookmark.
- Cache Favicons for Bookmarks https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/cache-favicons-for-bookmarks/

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately On All Devices to prevent the problem from spreading. Once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers/profiles before using sync again.
[v57+] Places Maintenance is built into Firefox.
Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.
You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.
When done, copy and post the results here.

Sounds that yo have a problem with favicons.sqlite and possibly places.sqlite.
If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.
If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder, you lose all history when a new places.sqlite is created.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created
You need to revisit a website to make Firefox retrieve the favicon.

The report looks good. Is the problem still there?

The problem is still there...here is a new bookmark that I added, https://www.duracelldirect.com.au/ , can you try it and see if it works for you.
It has the Favicon on the tab but won't change it on the bookmark.

I posted a reply but it needs a moderator to review it nefore it's posted but it basically says the problem is still there.
I also asked if you could try this new website that I added to bookmarks today which doesn't work, https://www.duracelldirect.com.au/
Thanks.

That's good to know as I assumed that all sites would update the favicon if they had one.
I have added the extension and that works well, so thanks for that.
A very big thanks to both of you for all your help getting this resolved and I can now flag it as solved.
