Firefox crashes on startup even after clean install
Hello,
Since a week or so, Firefox crashes on startup (I don't even see a page displayed, only the Crash reporter). I have tried the following points: - Start in safe mode ==> crash - Uninstalled, then reinstalled Firefox ==> crash reporter - Start the profile manager ==> I get very briefly the profile manager window (like a flash), then crash reporter - Removed the Firefox folder in C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Mozilla\ and C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\ then uninstalled, then reinstalled Firefox ==> crash reporter I ran the crash reporter and ended up with this crash ID: bp-be14eed2-fe35-43bc-a484-0e4ad2170104
Context / other information: - It's a company laptop, there is a lot of various malware / antivirus / data protection softwares. Some may interfere, but usually they display a notification and I didn't get any. - Based on some crash reports I found, I checked the xul.dll file and it's there in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox. - I'm using WIndows 10 Entreprise edition on a x64 computer.
Could you help me with the issue?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, this seems to be caused by Websense software, so if you have it on your system or within your organization, perhaps you could if possible, try updating or disabling it. Also see Old versions of Websense cause startup crashes in Firefox.
If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Hello,
Thanks a lot for the solution! I was unable to update Websense (or rather, I don't know how to do it), but using the ESR version of Firefox solved the issue.
Thanks again!
