I keep downloading the newer version of Firefox (9.0.10) but my computer keeps reverting back to Firefox (3.6.25). What can I do?
I've downloaded 9.0.1 seven times and each time the download indicates that the download went OK. However, my computer keeps reverting back to 3.6.25 which is an older version which keeps asking me to update to 9.0.1. So, I'm in a loop going around in a circle. Can anyone help?

Downloading and installing Firefox are separate procedures. After the new version is downloaded, you need to close Firefox, and then double-click the Firefox Setup 9.0.1.exe file to install the new version.

Are you installing Firefox 9.0.1, or just downloading it?

I already have Firefox but it's the older version 3.6.25. However, when I open Firefox, the entire screen is covered by a notice that I have an older version and need to download the newer version 9.0.1. So, I go thru the download procedure and thru the installation process as instructed. And I get a message that the download was completed. However, when I try to use Firefox again, it's still on the old version and again, it recommends downloading the newer version. I've done this eight times.

Your solution worked! Firefox 9.0.1 replaced my Firefox 3.6.25. Thank you soooooo much.
PS: I've downloaded many programs but this is the first time I've had to go to my Files and double click the program in order to install it. However, if it works, it works!! Thanks again.
