Since downloading 76.0.1 on my mac laptop Firefox freezes every few minutes and somtimes jumbles up web pages showing black boxes flickering and jumping around. It is quiet alarming. I've gone through the recommended fixes three times now but the problems persist. I've also reinstalled Adobe Flash Player and Duckduckgo as well as Firefox. I thought the problem could be flash because the freezing occurs most often when I am playing a word game. I tried taking a screen shot but the mouse is frozen while firefox is hung up. The jumbled pages can be anything but it seems that it's mostly pages with images. The problem occurs in safe mode, too. I am not having similar issue with Safari.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting for changes to take effect.

Thank you for trying to help. I used your suggestions but it didn't help the intermittent freezing so I am back to Using recommended performance settings. Now Firefox freezes to the point that I have to restart the computer. Your suggestion might have helped eliminate the black boxes and jumbled screens as I haven't experienced that since but frankly Firefox is freezing so much I am using Safari. I wonder if this issue is related to Adobe Flash Player? It is worse on game sites that use flash and previously when I loaded a game site I was asked if I wanted to run flash but that isn't happening and some sites aren't loading at all. The only other think that I can think of that could be related is that I synched my Android phone when I had to reinstall Firefox after this problem started occurring. Thanks again for any help.

That could mean the system is freezing. I sometimes get this when my protection program is working on a problem. web attack and such.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Thank you for your suggestions, FredMcD. I tried starting the computer in safe mode. It didn't help, firefox froze immediately and I had to restart. I don't know what you mean by network support or what you are asking for with a public link? The sites I use seem to be secure - the urls start with https. The jumbled web pages problem hasn't occurred the couple of times I've retried Firefox but I am using Safari as my browser for now. Been using Firefox for years and never had an issue before this time! Thanks again.

Thanks again, Fred. I haven't spent any time just browsing since creating a new profile but went straight to a site where I play a word game and another site that offers jigsaw puzzles. Firefox froze while playing the word game and I had to restart the computer (https://games.aarp.org/games/scramble-words) and just temporarily stops responding every few minutes on the jigsaw site (https://thejigsawpuzzles.com/) - which is an improvement there. Prior to the recent upgrade to Firefox everytime I wanted to load a puzzle after Firefox had been closed I had to "allow" Adobe Flash Player to run. That no longer occurs. Flash starts automatically. Your help is very much appreciated.

Hi. I tried your suggestion regarding history but it didn't help. Thanks tho. My history is set to clear every time I sign out of Firefox... I don't understand what you are asking when you say "Send a public link". What is a public link? Also, I don't understand "+++opps+++ delete". What is that, please? Thanks for your help. If nothing else, I am learning lots about Firefox fixes:)

I was asking for a link to where you were having the problem.
But you had the links in the prior message, so I replaced that post with the ++oops++.
