My old laptop cannot be updated, has old versions of everything. I just got a new one, installed Firefox and Sync, but can new and old co-exist in Sync?
I have two MacBooks, an old "Pro" and a new "Air". The old one has outdated operating system and Firefox, and cannot be updated. I just installed Firefox on my brand new laptop, and followed the instructions to "Sync". It seems to have worked, but I worry about the two versions of Firefox, and if they can co-exist like this. Will my new laptop keep the new version, and keep updating it? Should I have these two laptops in Sync at all??

Hi physicsmum, did you already Sync successfully, and get your bookmarks and saved passwords from your old Firefox into your new Firefox? If so, you can disconnect your new Firefox from Sync now and be independent.
That may be for the best because they likely will run different add-ons and have different settings due to the different Firefox versions (maybe 48 vs. 60?).
You can disconnect from Sync on the Preferences page, Firefox Account category.
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
In the left column, click Firefox Account. Then, on the right side, look for Disconnect.

You can hope that it holds out. You did not mention versions #'s and such.

Perhaps it was a mistake to start Sync immediately? I don't have much experience, and followed the on-screen suggestions too readily.
I appreciate your response, but I still don't know if I should have these two computers in Sync or not. I am tending toward the negative!
What Mac OS X version do you have on your old computer and which Firefox version is installed?

The old Firefox is 48.0.2 and the new one is 60.0.1 The old Mac system is OS X 10.6.8 and the new one is OS High Sierra etc.
Disconnecting from Sync sounds like a good idea, thanks!
