Downloaded files are being deleted when I close the browser window. The only work-around is to open the directory, copy the file and then save it with a different name. The original file goes away when I close the browser, but the copy stays. I noticed this first when I did a 'Save image" to save a cartoon that I follow. It even happens with purchased music/albums.

[edit] Problem fixed for me by updating Norton 360 to latest version (v5). Open Norton 360, click "Support" in top right of window then click "Check for updates" & follow on-screen instructions. [end edit]

I too have this problem with Firefox 3.6.16 and the new ver.4. It was working fine a few days ago & I've made no changes to Firefox, no new plugins or add-ons & no new s/w installed.

I suspect the problems were caused by the last round of MS updates (installed 26/04/2011) which included IE9. Unfortunately there were 27 other MS updates applied at the same time so it's virtually impossible to isolate & identify which one caused the problem.

So far the only workaround I've found that works is to [disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences]

This is not a satisfactory fix for me and can only be temporary for the obvious reason that downloaded files will not be virus scanned & I'm hoping that someone can suggest a proper fix.
