Mac OS 10.12.1 (Sierra) on a 27" 2011 iMac. I have "include in global search" checked for my inbox, I've re-installed Tbird, and I've rebuilt the db. All to no avail.

The menu command "Edit"/"Find"/"Search messages" works, but it would be nice if the global search was, well, global. Anybody have a clue about what's going on here? I recently migrated from an older iMac running El Capitan, so maybe something got hosed, but which of a hundred bits and pieces do I putz with?

On the toolbar > Help > Troubleshooting Information

Click the show profile button in Troubleshooting Information Close Thunderbird In the file window that opened, delete the file global- messages-db.sqlite Restart Thunderbird.

The search will be rubbish until the file fully regenerates, which could take a whole day if you have 10 or 20Gb of mail. You can monitor the status of that using the Activity Manager.
