Running Windows 8 and T-bird, return email address is wrong on emails sent.

more options

When I send emails to others, they cannot hit "REPLY" because my return address is wrong. The return address shown has quotation marks around the portion before @frontiernet.net These same folks can send me emails when the address is correct. I don't understand the instructions on the Internet sites. I am running windows 8.1

I think the quotation marks might be added if there is a typo in your username, such as a space.

I think the first place to check for your outgoing mail settings in Thunderbird's Account Settings screen. You can open that using either:

  • 3-bar menu > Options > Account Settings
  • tap the Alt key > Tools menu > Accounting Settings

One of the various pages in your settings will show your name, email address and (optional) reply-to address. Make sure there are no errors in any of those.
