Disable master password at startup
I use the password remember thing a lot and have a lot of passwords saved in Firefox. But those passwords can be seen by just clicking a button, not very secure... To solve this I enabled the master password, it solved the problem but now I have to enter the master password every time Firefox starts.
Is there a way to enable the master password only at the 'show passwords' button but not at startup or anywhere else?

hello, this isn't possible. the master password is also used to encrypt the files that hold your passwords & without checking for it at the beginning of each session, firefox cannot autofill those stored passwords on websites you're visiting...
I waited for more than an hour and then it stopped. Then I tried my regular password and it would not work? I think I need technical help on-line. My system is really in bad shape.

I never was given the opportunity to set a master password when I enable the feature so now I cannot access my old passwords nor can I save passwords and to top it off I can't disable the feature without the master password; IS THERE ANY WAY TO DISABLE THIS ? It kinda looks like I have to uninstall FireFox completely and reinstall it. Help ?
hello timinftl, please refer to Reset your Primary Password if you've forgotten it
Now that's just fine as frog's hair that was! I sure wish it was that easy to find on the website. Every "solution" that came up in a search for me required knowing the original Password. For some reason I only got as far as checking use master password and it never asked for the password on that screen so I didn't think much about it and figured like a lot of windoze stuff it would just ask me to enter one the first time it hit the blank spot where it would have gone. I thank you Very Much
