I was having the lagging issue before Firefox updated to version 13, but the issue has gotten worse since the update. It's pretty obvious when I'm watching anything on Youtube. The sound will stutter, especially if I scroll down or view something else on another tab. This happens in conjunction with the video lagging behind the audio, although the stuttering is now an even bigger problem after the update. And this isn't only happening on Youtube. The audio stutters on sites like Soundcloud as well and this is pretty new.

I tried a whole bunch of things; restarted in safe mode, disabled all plugins, cleared cookies and cache, created a new profile, and so on. Nothing helped. My plugins are all up to date, and the issue seems to be much worse on Firefox. It appeared to be better on IE. I'd really appreciate some help.

Are you using Flash 11.3? You can try to reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings gives easy instructions on how to do this.

A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this: Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Since the Yahoo Mail problem, I went back to Firefox 12 and thought I would avoid the Flash problems.

But today, Flash updated on my laptop to 11.3, which is the version causing everyone problems.

I didn't get the blank screens, but all of a sudden, playback was jerky and Flash games on Facebook were unplayable. I found that I too had to disable Flash's protected mode to get things running smoothly again.
