If you type about:support into the address bar and press [Enter], you should see the troubleshooting information page.

I typed 'about:support' into the address bar and got 'well that didn't work'.

try about:about as valid about: urls for the version are listed there.
It is possible to block the about:support page with a policy or GPO, so may that is preventing you from opening this page. Some other about pages can be blocked as well. You can check the about:policies#active page to see whether policies are active.
