A year ago my provider (Frontier) implemented web access only for email. I'd use OE Express for nearly twenty years, rather than web access. Frontier says that a similar software may be used with OAuth2. I converted to Thunderbird 38.5 (the latest version my OS will allow), however despite spending endless hours (days and weeks), have been unable to implement sending of emails using this method. I've looked (over and over) at both Frontier support pages and Thunderbird support pages and none of methods explain solve the issue (or allow me to send from my Frontier email accounts (using Thunderbird 38.5). (Frontier web access works fine and is Frontiers only concern).

Might anybody provide URL's for extensive settings when configuring a OAuth2 for SMTP?

You can't use OAuth2 authentication for Frontier accounts in TB with any version, and it currently only applies to gmail accounts and TB 52+. According to Frontier, you should be able to apply 'normal password' authentication in TB, but with an 'application-specific password'. Essentially, you Remove the existing passwords in the Options section, restart TB, and enter the app-specific password when prompted; check the relevant box to have it stored in Options.
